nLayer Data Transport services provide robust and cost-effective
transport solutions, delivered across the nLayer all-optical nationwide
MPLS converged infrastructure.
How does nLayer Data Transport service work?
nLayer Data Transport works by mapping a physical interface at a
Provider Edge (PE) router onto an MPLS Label Switched Path (LSP). Native
Layer 2 Protocol Data Units (PDUs) from Ethernet, SONET, or ATM interfaces
are transmitted via the LSP on the nLayer MPLS Network, to the opposite
side PE router where the label is removed. The original PDU is then
transmitted to the opposite Customer Edge (CE) device.
nLayer Data Transport is a fully transparent service, providing a
dedicated point to point Layer 2 private line service. The customer may
transparently pass any Layer 2 or Layer 3 protocol data necessary to
support their application, including Ethernet 802.1q VLAN tags. For
Ethernet services, the Customer Edge device can also be a Layer 2
switch.
Security, Scalability, Service
Unlike traditional TDM-based transport service such as SONET, which
provide a fixed capacity circuit only, nLayer Data Transport is packet
switched over our converged MPLS infrastructure. This means that extra
capacity is available on demand, allowing customers to burst beyond their
committed bandwidth levels, instead of dropping the excess data. By
shifting the cost of transport from a fixed expenditure to a cost of
revenue, customers can see significant cost savings.
nLayer Data Transport provides several flexible billing options,
including point-to-point, multi-point, flat-rate, and usage-based service.
For customers with many sites, nLayer Data Transport in a multi-point
configuration can provide a scalable and cost-effective alternative to
legacy ATM services.
Why choose Data Transport services from nLayer?
-
Bandwidth on demand.
Because nLayer Data Transport is a packet switched service, extra
capacity is already available across the uncongested and scalable
nLayer MPLS Network.
-
Revolutionary cost savings.
Only pay for the bandwidth that you actually use, rather than the
maximum you can possibly use.
-
Scalability.
nLayer Data Transport services scale from DS-3 to OC-48 (2.488Gbps)
interfaces and beyond.
-
Future-proof technology.
The nLayer MPLS-enabled Network is constantly being upgraded as capacity
demands dictate. nLayer Data Transport services are scalable to any speeds,
on any future interfaces, including OC-768c.
-
Rapid provisioning.
Activate new services quickly, eliminating the need to order additional
capacity months ahead of demand as with traditional services.
-
Service protection.
nLayer Data Transport is a fully protected service, on par with SONET
protection. MPLS Fast Reroute pre-calculates and signals service protection
LSPs, for rapid fault detection and repair in less than 50 milliseconds.
-
Aggressive Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
nLayer Data Transport service is backed up by industry leading SLAs for
latency, packet delivery, and trouble repair times, comparable to SONET
private line services.
